WHOA! What did I just read? I picked up this book for two reasons: the author and the cover. I didn’t read the blurb because that’s not my style. I judged the book’s content on the look of the cover. I figured it would be a light-hearted, fun story about rich men hooking up with young gold digging women. I’ve read some of this author’s other works so I figured she’d keep to a similar feel for the story line. I was wrong because this book dealt with a traumatic subject(view spoiler) and had a dark undertone to it.
Since I was so surprised by the book I put it down because I’m a mood reader and I was looking for a fun adventure, not a heavy read. Then my blogging partner, Kim, was wowed by the book which made me curious. So, I picked it up again but this time, I was in the right mindset.
Yep, this is one of my favorite books by Ms. Bennett. As I was reading it I worked out in my mind how it would end. Yes, I knew it had a cliffhanger and I had this elaborate cliffhanger all worked out. Well, the author didn’t read my mind and follow how I had it worked out. I got to the end of the book and now I want the next one in the series like RIGHT NOW. *lol*

I was seriously impressed by this book.
Not at all what I would have expected from Sawyer Bennett – her books are generally good, but this one kind of knocked my socks off & the subject matter is much darker than her norm. I was not expecting such a thrill ride. But I sure am glad I got it!
Of course, there are elements to this story that keep in line with Ms. Bennett’s signature style. The hero is dreadfully swoon-worthy (right up until that cliffhanger ending). The leading lady is damaged and, yet she has managed to maintain a semblance of strength, coming out of a bad situation and using it to give her purpose. There’s lots of steamy, sexy goodness to fill the pages as well.
Overall, I think this is my favorite Sawyer Bennett book to date. Even with that cliffhanger ending.
I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for Sugar Rush.
