PODCAST

Lately I’ve been listening to all kinds of Podcast and I thought I’d share a few with you. I find myself listening to them when I’m in the car with my husband or while I’m cleaning.

1)

I was in the truck with my husband when I noticed he was in the middle of a STown podcast.  He told me what it was about and caught me up on what was happening up to this point.  My first reaction to hearing it was – What the hell is this?!

The story is bizarre and yet fascinating.  My husband happened to finish it when I wasn’t in the truck with him so he told me how it ended.  The other day I went ahead and listened to the ending because I convinced my friend to listen to it and I wanted to make sure I remembered everything correctly.

It’s only 7 episodes and from the image above you can read what it’s about.  It’s a true story and this is one of those cases where a reader would say, “Truth is stranger than fiction.”

STown, which stands for Shit Town, can be listened to here.

A friend recommended this to me and I’ve enjoyed listening to people’s stories on what they’ve done to create {fill in the blank}.  Below I’m adding the clip about Miguel McKelvey’s episode.

Why this one caught my attention is because Miguel is from where I live.  He was raised here in a five-mother commune.  I had no idea we had commune’s in our town.  You learn something new everyday.  🙂

“Miguel McKelvey is the other half of WeWork, the nearly $17 billion communal work space company, cofounded in 2010 with CEO Adam Neumann. Raised in a five-mother commune in Eugene, Ore.,”

If you want to know how 5 Guys Burgers and Fries came about or Whole Foods Market or Airbnb plus many more click here.  Each one is between 30 to 50 minutes long.

I happened upon this podcast and really enjoyed it. ‘Don’t judge a person by their (book) cover’ episode talks about a unique way to do book reviews.

Anne Bogel (host) interviewed Uli Beutter Cohen.  Uli is the creator of the Subway Book Review an Instagram project.

“Book reviews with strangers on the subway 🗽 the tube 🇬🇧 and the metro 🇪🇬.”

I love this idea.  I joked with a friend that I was going to do that here but on our local bus system.  He didn’t think I’d have much luck finding enough readers on our buses here to create an Instagram account.  *lol*

Below is a picture from Subway Book Review Instagram (click the picture to go to the page):

To hear more from Anne Bogel you can listen here. Each episode ranges between 45 and 60 minutes long.

Well, that’s it for now.

Let me know if you listen to any Podcast and if so which ones do you listen to.

  1. Thanks for the list & links. I have listened to all listed except “Don’t judge a book by its cover”, which I’m listening to right now. Will look up instagram too. Think you should give the local bus system a try. On routes that go to the college’s would probably find lots of text books, but on other routes you might find some interesting books, not that text books can’t be interesting.

    1. That’s a great suggestion: the buses going to the college. I wonder if I’d be brave to approach someone and ask them to let me take their picture. LOL
