I was hooked to this series after I read book 2, Welcome to the Dark Side. After reading that book I decided to go back and read the whole series from the start.
The MC lifestyle doesn’t follow social norms. I’m always a little more lenient when things happen in their world than I would be in a normal romance. Let’s talk about the elephant in the room – the student/teacher element.
King is the 18-year-old son of a MC president. He doesn’t look like a high school boy and he doesn’t act like one and that’s due to his family’s lifestyle of being part of mc world.
Cressida is a 26-year-old school teacher. She’s newly out of a marriage her family pushed her into when she was 18 years old. She’s always been straightlaced but deep down has wanted to cut loose.
The age of King really isn’t the issue since he is of legal age but what makes it taboo is the power dynamic. Cressida is King’s high school teacher! King acts older than his age and the way he handles things, at times, it feels like he’s older than Cressida. Which he probably is if we’re basing it off of life experiences. Cressida has lived a pretty sheltered life. Experience wise she is stunted at the age she left her parents to marry which is 18 years old. If you reversed King and Cressida’s ages you’d have a more accurate age for how they handled themselves. Cressida behaved as if she was 18-year-old and King acted as if was 26-year-old. Had Cressida not been the teacher and King the high school student I would have thought the roles were reversed.
There is a taboo scene that happens between Cressida and King while she is teaching class. I was a little surprised by that since it put their relationship in jeopardy of being caught.
I’ve noticed in books that contain alpha males those males sound eerily similar to Kristen Ashley’s alpha males. They all have an essence of caveman speak.

Zeus is 19 years old than Louise and was only in her life through letters until she was 17-years old. At that point, he bought a strip joint that she was working in.
Louise comes from wealth and privilege but along with that, she has a family who has no time or interest in her. As an escape from that world, she lives a second life at night. A sort of ‘good angel / bad angel’ type of lifestyle.
I loved being in the mc world where everyday rules don’t apply.
