Havoc is the first book I’ve read by this author since 2012. I’m not sure why it’s taken me this long to read another book by this author because I remember loving her book,Poughkeepsie. When a friend suggested I read this book I didn’t hesitate.
Even though this book is supposed to be a standalone I went ahead and read some friends reviews of the previous book (Mercy) because the characters are in both books. It helped me get the backstory on them.
I’m a reader who likes my characters to be together and unfortunately, for me, that wasn’t the case for the majority of the book. The hero didn’t view the heroine as a love interest but more as a family member (like a sister). Also, I wasn’t a fan of reading a detailed sexual escapade he had with someone who was considered the enemy. Overall, I found I just couldn’t connect with the characters or get behind the journey these characters took to gain their love story.
Havoc is a standalone that exist in the same world as Mercy. This is a story of two people who had a hard start in life. One was in foster care and the other was basically homeless. Their childhood friendship held them together into adulthood where life became even messier for them.
