Moments.

Our lives are a collection of moments. Some utterly painful and full of yesterday’s hurts. Some beautifully hopeful and full of tomorrow’s promises.

I’ve had many moments in my lifetime, moments that changed me, challenged me. Moments that scared me and engulfed me. However, the biggest ones—the most heartbreaking and breathtaking ones—all included him.

I was ten years old when I lost my voice. A piece of me was stolen away, and the only person who could truly hear my silence was Brooks Griffin. He was the light during my dark days, the promise of tomorrow, until tragedy found him. Tragedy that eventually drowned him in a sea of memories.

This is the story of a boy and girl who loved each other, but didn’t love themselves. A story of life and death. Of love and broken promises.

Of moments.

Extraordinary! Heartbreaking! Enthralling! I was blown away by how much this book touched my soul.

“I’ll always be there to hear your silence.”

Reading The Silent Waters was a powerful and moving story that touched my heart in my ways. The story focused on the many aspects around silence. While the main character isn’t deaf but instead she is mute after suffering a traumatic situation as a child. Because of her muteness, there is a lot of silence that surrounds her. (On a side note, in 2019 I adopted a dog who was born deaf. Because of her, I’ve learned some basic sign language. Since her world is silent I’m her ears.)

Maggie and Brooks’s love story expands from childhood into adulthood. I knew I loved these two from the beginning when Brooks helped Maggie out when he first meets her. Their friendship was an enjoyable journey to watch grow over the years. At times I was laughing at these two and other times I was on the verge of tears.

I’ve read 3 books written by Ms. Cherry this month and they are all 5 stars!! It’s been a very Cherry month!! I’m working my way through Ms. Cherry’s backlog (5 out of 17). I look forward to more amazing books. One thing I’ve noticed about this author is she writes books that I want to quote the whole thing.

“The world keeps spinning because your heartbeats exist.”
