From Amazon.com:
After a tragic incident in Afghanistan leaves Master Sergeant Nathan Ryker the only man standing in his tight-knit team, he spirals into an alcohol-and-sex induced escape. A call from his lifelong buddy pulls Ryker from the shadows with a request for help with his stunt company’s latest blockbuster. If Ryker can survive the next three weeks of leave and get back to his remaining men, he might just be all right. But a sexy woman who can take his mind off his trauma is too hard to resist, and when he hooks up with Renegades’ sultry, snarky office manager, his sanity takes a backseat to his first glimpse of a future he isn’t sure he deserves.

Still reeling from a bitter romantic betrayal, Rachel Hart wants nothing more than an uncomplicated hookup. So when the mysterious Nathan seduces her with a little dirty talk and one delicious kiss, Rachel drowns all her good sense in a Mandarin and soda and gives herself over to a night of sexual bliss. But her memories tarnish in the morning light when Rachel discovers his real identity and his link to Renegades. Her job and her friends are the only thing holding her life together, and she won’t be ruined by one sultry night with this damaged and dangerously sexy man.

Foxy's Review:

Where was Ryker when I was single and traveling? Had he been around during that period in my life I would have stalked my local airport bar.

Rachel is the Renegade’s secretary/office manager and has been assigned to pick up a close friend of the owners at the airport. The guy, Ryker, she is picking up is on a three week leave from active duty and has been hired to work on a special project for the Renegades.

After searching the airport for Ryker, whom she has never met, Rachel heads to the airport bar to wait for further orders from her boss on what to do next. Ryker is already at the bar and overhears Rachel explaining how she can’t find him. Ryker decides not to tell her who he really is and uses the situation for his advantage. His ploy, to act as a total stranger, leads to a steamy one night stand in a hotel room.

ONLY ONE PROBLEM – When he shows up to work the next day he runs into Rachel. Who still has no idea who he really is and once she finds out the firecrackers explode. She doesn’t mix her personal love life with work because it causes too many hurdles.

“That is the epitome of complication.”

Ryker’s a sexy but broken man. His childhood through adulthood as been filled with not ever feeling truly loved. Relationships aren’t something he has ever even considered because of his upbringing. Even though he may not be relationship material he is still a good man; he’s honorable, loyal, dedicated and honest.

Rachel’s the backbone of the Renegades. She makes sure everything happens smoothly. Sisterly problems has left her distancing herself from her family. Even though she stays away from her family she has gained a new family with her coworkers. She’s a doer, a fixer, a mediator, a nurturer and a giver. All qualities that make her a valuable employee and friend to the people she is now closest with in her life.

“Ricochet can cause a lot of damage.”

Ricochet is the third book in the series but the first book I read in this series. I really appreciated that I was able to pick this book up with no prior knowledge of the other two books in the series and be able to read it with no trouble.

A steamy read for a hot summer day.
