TOP TEN HISTORICAL FICTION I’VE READ

TTT #15

REDEEMING LOVE by Francine Rivers
My all-time favorite book!

THE HELP by Kathryn Stockett
My daughter recently read this book and watched the movie. She didn’t care for the movie because she thought they left too many things out. I personally liked both.

THE BRONZE HORSEMAN by Paullina Simons
Gut wrenching love story.

OUTLANDER by Diana Gabaldon
If you have time to listen to the audio you should because the narrator is fantastic.

TWENTIES GIRL by Sophie Kinsella
This story is a hybrid historical book.  A ghost from the 1920’s visits the main character.

ONE DANCE WITH A DUKE by Tessa Dare
A fun historical romance with a mysterious murder.

A WEEK TO BE WICKED by Tessa Dare
If you love nerdy girls then this book is right up your alley.

FLIPPED by Wendelin Van Draanen
About a more innocent time – childhood sweethearts.  Ron Howard made this into a movie.

AGAIN THE MAGIC by Lisa Kleypas
Forbidden love in the 1800’s.

SECRETS OF A SUMMER NIGHT by Lisa Kleypas
Four ‘wallflower’ friends decide to become ‘husband hunters’ and find a man to marry.

  1. Diana Gabaldon,Lisa Kleypas,Monica McCarty,Sarah Maclean,Stephanie Laurens,Tessa Dare,Johanna Lindsay,Eloisa James,Julia Quinn,Grace Burrowes,Sabrina Jeffries,Victoria Alexander,Susanne Enoch,Sherry Thomas,Mary Reed McCall,Mary Balogh,Linda Francis Lee…..

Those are just some of my favorite historical authors 🙂

    Do you need more?

    1. WOW! Love those picks! Some of read and others I’ve heard of.
After I made my list I thought of another book I read that I really liked. Sarah Maclean’s Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake. did you read that one? I see you listed her above. 🙂

      1. Yes i read it..Lady Calpurnia is a rebel 🙂

My habit is that if i like author then i must read all series from them..and usually buy them if they are translated in my native language;)

        1. I think that’s the only I’ve read by her but I should read more since I loved that book.
And I love your habit. That’s an awesome idea

  2. I’ve loved the movie The Help, but then again I haven’t read the book, so maybe I should (I should know by now that books are always better than their adaptations), and Outlander has been on my TBR since forever, it’s totally my kind of book. Do you think the show’s good ?

    1. Oh yes…read The Help. The movie was missing some stuff. But like you – I loved the movie. 🙂
I think the show is a good adaption of Outlander. I started watching the TV show first and then picked up the book. I found the beginning of the book boring bc it was missing the main guy (bc he hadn’t shown up in the story yet). The TV show did a good job motivating me to read it.

  3. I loved the Help!! And the movie is like MY FAVOURITE and I thought the did a really nice faithful adaption?! Apart from making Skeeter Emma Stone. XD I mean, I love Emma Stone so I won’t complain, hehe, but she wasn’t exactly tall and gangly and blonde. BUT AH WELL. <3 I still love both movie and book for that one.
Thanks for stopping by @ Paper Fury!

    1. I agree!! I thought it was a good adaption but I read the book a year prior to seeing the movie. My daughter read the book and turned around and watched the movie. So, it was fresh in her mind. 🙂
      It’s a favorite of mine too. <3
