TWW ~ Across the Universe (series) by @bethrevis

How about something a little different this week?

I'm talking, Young Adult, science fiction, romance ...
Yes, you heard me right! YA/Sci-Fi/Romance ... I read it & I love it!

One of my favorite series in the genre? Across the Universe by Beth Revis.

Across the Universe (Across the Universe, #1)

Across The Universe

First, let's take a moment to really appreciate that gorgeous cover!

I really enjoyed this book. My only criticism, besides making me really claustrophobic is that there wasn't quite enough of a connection with the 2 main characters - I could feel it on his end, but got nothing from her.

A Million Suns (Across the Universe, #2)

A Million Suns

Another pretty cover.

This was one of those rare occurrences, where the second book was actually better than the first. I think this installment gave me more appreciation for the first - I gained backstory and insight that made me go back & re-examine my previous thoughts about the characters.

Also - I really like that there's not an over-dramatized romance ... it seems more realistic in the situation.

Shades of Earth (Across the Universe, #3)

Shades Of Earth

This cover ... meh - not so much.

Despite seeming a little rushed through the conclusion  (it went from revelation to resolution a bit to quickly and simplistically for me) - the third and final installment was a great read.
I have really really enjoyed the overall series ... the creativity and thoughtfulness that went into creating the story is what kept me reading.

I still think I like Elder more than Amy, but that's ok *spoiler* -> she did the right thing in the end.

Here's something kind of cool, that I don't always look at .... Alternate book covers! (it's sort of like being in another universe if you think about it - lol)
