Review ~ MAYBE NOT by Colleen Hoover #5stars
Colleen Hoover, the New York Times bestselling author of Maybe Someday, brilliantly brings to life the story of the wonderfully hilarious and charismatic Warren in a new novella, Maybe Not.
When Warren has the opportunity to live with a female roommate, he instantly agrees. It could be an exciting change.
Or maybe not.
Especially when that roommate is the cold and seemingly calculating Bridgette. Tensions run high and tempers flare as the two can hardly stand to be in the same room together. But Warren has a theory about Bridgette: anyone who can hate with that much passion should also have the capability to love with that much passion. And he wants to be the one to test this theory.
Will Bridgette find it in herself to warm her heart to Warren and finally learn to love?
I know, I know!!! I’m the last person to finally read this one. I read Maybe Someday in 2013 and MAYBE NOT was released in 2014 and here it is 2017 and I’m finally reading this one. *hangs head in shame*
We met Bridgette and Warren in Maybe Someday and ever since we’ve got a glimpse of these two I’ve wanted their story. Ms. Hoover didn’t disappoint by providing her fans with this novella. Maybe Not parallels Maybe Someday so a lot of blanks are filled in on what was happening between Bridgette and Warren. Plus, the best part is the story is told in Warren’s pov.
“Mean girls are my weakness.” -Warren
Bridgette seems incapable of being nice to anyone. Hearing the reason why she has a hardened outer core helps make her more likable. I loved that Warren was attracted to her even though she was a tough nut to crack.
Their relationship was totally backward. They had sexy times long before they even held hands but that is what worked between these two.
I listened to the audio version. There are few odd spots where the narrator’s voice changes. Like they had a voice over. It only happens a couple times so it doesn’t affect my enjoyment of the story.
If you’ve read Maybe Someday then you need to grab this book and read it. It is an entertaining quick story that shouldn’t be missed by those who loved Warren.
