Yep, what I said above the graphic, prior to reading the book, rings true! The combo of a favorite author and sports romance made for one stellar read.
The bravery demonstrated in this story is the heart and soul of this book. It’s always easy to judge someone else’s situation and have a solution for their situation but without walking in their shoes no one can know what it’s like to wear those shoes.
The hero is August West and the whole time I was reading about him he became the mashup of basketball star – Stephen Curry and football star – Marcus Mariota. Their personalities put together created the ideal hero, August West.
But this story isn’t hero focused, it has the vibe of being woman driven. Iris DuPree is no shrinking violet. She’s a strong-minded woman who is driven and passionate about where she’s headed. When her course takes a turn for the worse she ultimately steps into the role as the hero of her own story.
LONG SHOT is a standalone book set in the NBA world. The story tackles a tough topic in a way that reminds the reader that there’s more than meets the eye when judging someone else’s journey. Long Shot exhibits what it means to be your own hero through Iris’s journey.
