TWO POINT SEVEN-FIVE STARS
Well, now this is awkward… I had hoped to fall in love with this book. Every time I look on goodreads someone is raving about this series but unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be. 95% of this audio I was bored. Don’t get me wrong it wasn’t the narration that bored me because I found that portion well done along with the writing. It was the story line that disinterested me. The last few chapters I did find entertaining.
I’ve heard each book gets better as the series goes on so I may continue on in a month or so.

There’s a lot of characters in this book. Since it’s an audio I can’t search back on characters or terms…so, to keep them straight I created a cheat sheet. This list is incomplete…there are a lot more characters.
Downworlders (hybrid: part human and part demon. Which includes: werewolves, vampires, warlocks and faeries.)
βTessa Gray – heroine
βCamille Belcourt – leader of her clan
βMagnus Bane – boyfriend to Camille
βDark Sisters – kidnappers
Shadowhunters (aka Nephilim: humans born with angelic blood)
βWill Herondale – hero. Likes getting drunk and hanging out with questionable women.
βJem Carstairs – Will’s parabatai (bonded to each other). He’s sick or needs something to keep alive.
βCharlotte & Henry Branwell – the heads of the London Institute.

I LOVE this book … from the moment I opened the (absolutely stunning) virtual cover to the very last word, on the very last page. It doesn’t surprise me, since I really enjoyed the entire Mortal Instruments series first … But this book by far exceeded my expectations.
I adore the steampunk setting. I know, I’m a giant nerd.
All the magnificent and unique descriptive had me feeling like I was right in the center of the action. And this book is absolutely packed with action! So many battles … both physical and emotional.
The characters are phenomenal. I love Jem and Tessa … but most of all, I completely LOVE Will. He made this book absolute perfection!
**On a side note:
I think it’s easier to enjoy this series (The Infernal Devices), if you have the background from the other series (The Mortal Instruments) first.
