Music . . . the heart’s greatest librarian.

The average song is three and a half minutes long; those three and a half minutes could lead to a slow blink, a glimpse of the past, or catapult the soul into heart-shattering nostalgia.

At the height of my career, I had the life I wanted, the life I’d always envisioned. I’d found my tempo, my rhythm. Then I received a phone call that left me off key.

You see, my favorite songs had a way of playing simultaneously. I was in love with one man’s beats and another’s lyrics. But when it came to the soundtrack of a life, how could anyone choose a favorite song? So, to erase any doubt, I ditched my first-class ticket and decided to take a drive, fixed on the rearview.

Two days.

One playlist.

And the long road home to the man who was waiting for me.

Well, dang! I really wanted to love this one because I remember a year ago when everyone was buzzing about this book. I even bought it then in preparation for reading it in the future. And just recently I bought the audible to do a buddy read with Kara.

The prologue and then chapter 1 threw me for a loop. I couldn’t keep straight if we were in the present or past with the storyline.

I’m not a fan of (view spoiler) but that didn’t bother me in this story. It was more of me trying to follow if we were in the past or present and figuring out who is who. Listening to it on audible might be the reason why I found that I didn’t connect with this story.

I’m in the minority on this one so don’t let my rating discourage you from reading this one. The overall consensus on this story is it’s epic. So, give it a try.  Here is Kim’s 5-star review.

    1. Thanks! I was surprised it didn’t work for me either. I know it was really popular last year and continues to be this year. 🙂 <3
