The Help by Kathryn Stockett

I was invited to join a newly formed book club and our first book to read and discuss was THE HELP. Being involved in a real life book club is a new experience for me. It’s fun to sit at Star Bucks discussing everyone’s points of view on this book.

It’s been 7 years since I read this book and I loved it just as much the second go around. The whole Pecker Pie scene had me laughing out loud again. Sadly that part was left out of the movie.

I, for one, equally enjoyed the movie as much as the book. My eldest teenager recently read and then watched the movie and was not happy with the movie. She felt they left too much stuff out and changed some stuff. For me I felt like for the time they were alloted to create this movie it convenyed the essense of the book.

While this isn’t my normal genre to read I’m glad I happened upon it 7 years ago. It was fanastanting to read how in the 1960’s things like this were happening in the America. America has come a long way but we still have a long ways to go.
