Vanquish
Deliver
Pam Godwin

Brilliant! I was hooked from the first page until the last page.

I first met Van in ”Deliver” and he seemed so detached and menacing that I held him at distance. I was unsure if I could soften to him or not. When Ms. Godwin announced that there would be a Van book I knew I had to read it. I needed to know what made Van so disconnected and yet so frightening.

Van happened upon Amber on one of his nightly stalking adventures of Liv (from Deliver). Amber has issues. She suffers from OCD and agoraphobia. In little ways I could relate to Amber: her use of sarcasm, doing things in symmetrical groups of four (I don’t do that BUT four is my favorite number), and her OCD (I tend to be OCD when it comes to organizing my books, etc. I like to think of it as JUST being organized). One last way I could relate to Amber is with her former profession. My niece is also involved in that profession and I can see how it would make you very self aware of every thing about your body. To not ruin what her former job was I will refrain from saying anything else except to say- this is the first time I’ve read of this occupation in a book. 🙂

Amber’s quirkiness brought out Van’s need to train people. His desire to break her free from her prison was a real growth moment for him. His willingness to help her was oddly fascinating. Her idiosyncrasy had him feeling things he had not felt for another human. Van has a heart?

description

The enigma of the man beneath the hood was mesmerizing and Van won me over with his alluring ways. I enjoyed watching him coerce our needy heroine into the woman he realized he may actually love. Even though, he is possessive and controlling…he is also captivating with his fierce, protective attention he doted on Amber.

I kept an open mind about my feelings for Van when I went intoVanquish and I wasn’t disappointed. I really liked Van in this book. Some things that freaked me out in the first book, his dolls and hair fetish, broke my heart when we learned the truth about the true purpose behind them.

The story was superb. Fascinatingly dark with a splash of sass and sarcasm. Although this is a dark book there are a few times that it made me laugh (for those of you who have read it, the needing to use the bathroom scene had me dying of laughter). Ms. Godwin’s adds just enough humor in it to melt our hearts for Van. I’ve read 3 dark books written by Ms. Godwin and they’ve all been 5 star books. If you like dark books Ms. Godwin’s books are an excellent choice to read.

INTERVIEW WITH VAN

1.       Boxers or briefs?
Commando, baby. Gotta let that shit breathe.

2.       Which competition tv show would you be on and why? (Big Brother, American Ninja Warrior, Survivor, Amazing Race, etc…)    The Face Off game show. Prosthetic makeup? Not gonna lie. I’ve got a thing for creating life-like plastic people.

3.       Has anyone ever told you that you resemble Sid from Toy Story?  Both of you have a passion for creating things out of stuff other people don’t want.
You’re the first who’s mentioned it, but I won’t argue. Sid had shit parents. He was poor, lonely, and intense. His life sucked. So he destroyed things and created something new from what was left. Know what that’s called? An artist.

4.       Since my Girl Scout days I’ve always been interested in lashing.  Any tips for a newbie? (p.s. I don’t need to know how to tie up tampons around my house….lol)
Choose the right material (nylon, hemp, cotton, wire, leather…ahem, hair) for her (or his) pleasure.

5.       On your Christmas list would it be safe to assume you’d asked for toothpicks and hoodies?
Damn straight. Amber won’t admit it, but she secretly loves a badass toothpick poking out of the shadows of my hood.

6.       If you went to college what would you major in?
Taxidermy. Nah, I’m just playin’. I’d major in Psychology. I’ll be the first to admit I didn’t use the safest methods on my little broken doll.

Thank you!!!

BLURB:

Her life is like a prison cell.teaser 2 deliver

A self-made, to-hell-with-the-free-world existence that locks from the inside.

Stop judging. Her agoraphobia doesn’t define her. It simply keeps her safe.

He belongs in a prison cell.

The 6×8, make-me-your-bitch variety that locks from the outside.

But he’s free. To hunt. To take. To break.

And he just found a sexy new toy.

Capturing her is the easy part. Her fucked-up mind, however, makes him question everything he does next.

But he’s a determined bastard. If all goes his way, this will hurt like hell.

Warning: Graphic sex and violence. Age 18+ only

It is recommended to read after Deliver, but it can be read as a stand-alone.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author, Pam Godwin, lives in the Midwest with her husband, their two children, and a foulmouthed parrot. When she ran away, she traveled fourteen countries across five continents, attended three universities, and married the vocalist of her favorite rock band.

Java, tobacco, and dark romance novels are her favorite indulgences, and might be considered more unhealthy than her aversion to sleeping, eating meat, and dolls with blinking eyes.
