Goodwill Hunting

There’s something I’ve been hiding. It’s a secret that very few people know. I have a habit. An addiction.

Finally, I’m coming clean.

I’m addicted to second hand books.

Goodwill stores, independent retailers, online booksellers, or yard sales … it doesn’t matter … when I see used books for sale, I have to look. I NEED to see if there’s a treasure hidden among the previously-loved tomes and pocket paperbacks. Each time I go looking, it’s like an adventure. I’m on the hunt for the rare or scarcely seen and my favorites, past or present. I won’t lie, I really do love the bargain of buying second-hand. Sometimes I feel like Indiana Jones, or Lara Croft (without the guns or rope swinging) … searching for that missing relic … the perfect piece for my collection.

Since I enjoy my past-time so much (& often), I thought I’d share it with you.

This week’s adventure is ….

Does this book haul make my butt look big?

No, seriously … I need to know. If I haul around this many books … will my ass get bigger just thinking about all the reading hours I will spend, sitting on my couch?

I have a couple local stores that I frequent. This week I adventured into Attic Books. I LOVE this place. Rarely do I walk out without something in hand. But this week, I was blown away by the number of titles that peaked my interest.

World After & End of Days by Susan Ee
I love this young adult sci-fi/fantasy series (Penryn & the End of Days). This is book 2 & 3. I also really love that both of these books are Brand New! They look like they’ve never been opened. I really lucked out … the store was just putting these out & hadn’t even priced them yet. The only thing that could have made this haul better … having all 3 books of the series.

Lick, Play & Lead by Kylie Scott
Two of these books (Play & Lead) are ARC copies. The store charged less for them. I was shocked and excited to find something so rare in my local bookshop. How many paperback ARC’s are given for each release … I don’t claim to know the answer, but I can’t imagine it’s that many. One thing I know for sure … I won’t be giving up any of my paperback ARCs anytime soon.

Pushing the Limits & Dare You To by Katie McGarry
Two of my favorite young adult books. And I love that they are hardcover! Even better … I paid less than I would have spent for brand new paperback versions.

Oh, but there was more:

I was very tempted by the Marked Men series by Jay Crownover. With a forklift and more $$$, they would have come home with me as well.
